ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. – Alpine County Search and Rescue (Alpine SAR) has announced its inaugural fundraising golf tournament, scheduled for September 29, 2023. Golf enthusiasts and community members are invited to join them for a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and philanthropy at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club.

There have always been great volunteers on the South Shore, but over the past two years, the community has been the recipient of thousands of hours of selfless work by volunteers

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - While Hurricane Hilary is just hitting the coast of Mexico tonight as a Category 1, heavy rain, cooler temperatures, and a risk of flooding are forecast for part of Western Nevada and the Sierra Sunday-Monday.

The hurricane is making landfall along the northwestern portion of Baja California. While this system will rapidly weaken by the time it reaches Nevada, significant amounts of moisture will bring periods of heavy rainfall to the region according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The City of South Lake Tahoe is kicking off the design phase for the renovation of the existing skatepark at Bijou Community Park on Al Tahoe Blvd.

The City, along with Action Sports Design, is requesting input from the public as they share the proposed designs and project overview. Meet the consultant team and share your feedback at an in-person meeting on Tuesday, August 29 starting at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Center, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

El Dorado County health officials received confirmation Friday that the County’s first human case this year of West Nile virus infection was reported near Placerville.

West Nile virus activity has been detected in 26 humans in 12 California counties. El Dorado County announced the first bird-positive case this year on August 2, 2023.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Tahoe Arts Project held its annual Music on the Beach on Thursday evening, and took the time to unveil the stars and professionals making up this year's Dancing With the Tahoe Stars.
