Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders!

A Sunday-Fun Day ahead with Partly Cloudy turning Mostly Cloudy Skies and continued chance of snow showers in the afternoon… Get After it today with plenty of Fresh Snow on top of Machine Groomed Corduroy and Skier-Rider Tracked and Packed Snow… North Lake Tahoe SnowFest concludes today with Family Fun Day and More… Ski & Ride with Care & Be Safe!

TODAY’S WEATHER: Expect a Slight Chance of snow showers in the morning, then snow showers likely in the afternoon. Snow accumulation up to 2”. Highs: 29F-34F (19F-24F on the slopes). Light Winds becoming northeast around 10 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Mostly Cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Snow accumulation of 1-4” above 7000 feet. Lows: 18F to 28F. Northeast winds 10-15 mph.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT: Snow Impacts Across the Region Today…

The snow showers overnight have been more isolated than expected. Light showers did develop over parts of I-80 from Sparks to Fernley, US 95 near Wabuska, and out by Fallon and were migrating northward. Travel concerns for these mentioned areas are anticipated as roadways could become snow covered and icy in spots. Expect these isolated showers to continue region wide throughout the rest of the day as low pressure off the California coast moves offshore. Concerns about slick roads will lessen after sunrise.

* Tahoe Basin and Mono County: Periods of light snow will continue on and off for today. Showers can become more widespread in coverage this evening mainly for Mono County. Snowfall rates will not be heavy, however freezing temperatures this morning and again this evening will result in hazardous travel with snow covered roads.

* Western Nevada Cities: Isolated snow showers are expected for the rest of the day with little to no accumulation forecast. With warming temperatures during the day, road conditions should improve from the morning hours. Slick areas may redevelop this evening on untreated roads.

* Plan to allow extra time for travel Sunday morning and evening. Even a light accumulation with sub-freezing temperatures can result in icy roads. Check road conditions before heading out.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress in warm, in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take good gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear Good Goggles or Sunglasses (100% UV protection). Don’t forget to use sunscreen if the sun pops out and stay hydrated at altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are primarily Fresh Powder over Machine Groomed and Skier-Rider Tracked & Packed Powder…

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Respect all rope lines & area closures.Ski or Ride with a Buddy if you decide to go Off-Piste – Trees or opened trails. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Stay away from Tree Wells… Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.
