23rd annual Lake Tahoe Summit at Valhalla Tuesday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 23rd annual Lake Tahoe Summit will be held on Tuesday, August 20 at Valhalla starting at 10:00 a.m. Two governors, two senators, a Washoe elder and other state and federal representatives will be on hand to discuss Lake Tahoe, the environment and the future of keeping Tahoe blue and forests healthy.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein is hosting the event with California Governor Gavin Newsom giving the keynote address. They will be joined on the dais by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Congressman Tom McClintock, Congressman John Garamendi, Southwest Regional Forester with USFS Barnie Gyant and Tahoe Fund board member Katie Simon Hall.

The day's event will be started by hearing from Washoe Elder Steven James.

Senator Feinstein will also be announcing the Eco-Challenge award winners.

There is no parking on site so those planning on attending will need to walk, ride bikes or take one of the shuttles provided by Tahoe Transportation District. There will be a bike valet at the event. Shuttles are available from Taylor Creek Sno-Park and South Tahoe High School every 20 minutes starting at 8:30 a.m. Shuttles will return to the parking lots at 12:15 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Online registration is closed but registration tables open at Valhalla at 9:00 a.m.
