Sierra-at-Tahoe opening sooner than expected

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With snowfall forecast at the higher elevations of Lake Tahoe in the feet and not inches and a good base from recent storms, Sierra-at-Tahoe has announced they will be opening for the 2018/19 season this Friday.

Sierra will have three lifts and one surface lift scheduled to operate, conditions permitting. They are scheduled to spin Grandview Express, Nob Hill and Easy Rider Express, as well as Magic Carpet. Sierra Snowsports School will be offering adult and children’s lessons, and snowplay at Blizzard Mountain will be open for everyone to enjoy.

“Mother Nature has been delivering the goods this past week,” said General Manager, John Rice in a press release. “We are excited to have a snowy start to the season and look forward to seeing everyone on the mountain this Friday.”

In the last seven days the resort southwest of Lake Tahoe has received 24" of snow at the summit and 19" of snow at the base.

The first hundred chairs on Grandview Express will be treated to a cup of Drink Coffee Do Stuff coffee and KIND Snacks while they take their first lift ride of the season. At noon there will be sampling of local brews on the Solstice Plaza. Open dining options are Mama’s Kitchen, Java Junction and The Pub.
