Good Morning Lake Tahoe Skiers & Riders…

Welcome to Lake Tahoe and Pre-Christmas Weekend! All the Resort are Open and geared up, operating at Maximum Levels, conditions permitting, Offering more lifts and terrain and ready for the Holidays… Machine Groomed & Skier Packed Powder! If you need to rent gear, get there early or rent the night before… If you want to enroll in ski/snowboard lessons, sign up early… Have Patients in Lines… Get After it! Lots of Holiday activities scheduled on and off the slopes… Have Fun & Be Safe!

Today’s Weather: Expect Partly Cloudy Skies in the morning, then becoming mostly cloudy. Highs: 41F-46F (31F-36F on the Slopes). Light Winds.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING:

* WHAT: Moderate to heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches are possible, with 6 to 12 inches above 7000 feet and for locations west of Highway 89. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE: Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Lassen-Eastern Plumas- Eastern Sierra Counties.

* WHEN: From Monday morning through Tuesday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS.: Travel could be very difficult, especially due to increased holiday traffic. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Now is the time to prepare an emergency kit for your home and car. If traveling consider alternate plans, remember to carry tire chains, extra food, water and clothing. Once the storm arrives, travel may be difficult or impossible for an extended period of time.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress, in layers with your Gore-Tex Jacket or Shell. Take good gloves, a hat or beanie, and wear a Helmet for Safety. Also wear good Sunglasses or Goggles. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen (when the sun is out) & stay hydrated at altitude!

SURFACE CONDITIONS: Surface Conditions are Machine Groomed & Skier-Rider Packed Snow with some areas of Firm Pack Snow. Watch for marked & unmarked obstacles.

SAFETY MESSAGE: Stay on designated Opened Trails only. Keep an eye out for marked and unmarked obstacles. Slow Down and observe safety signs on trails with high concentration of skiers and riders… Know the Code! Always stay in control. Be able to avoid objects and people in your Path! Please stop to side of the run where it is safe and always check uphill for skiers and riders before restarting downhill.

LOW avalanche danger exists today for all elevations. A windslab avalanche problem lingers near and above treeline. Human triggered avalanches are not impossible today.
