SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – What was once a thriving senior center in South Lake Tahoe supported a growing portion of the community with social, recreational, economical, and health services. There were classes, game nights, dances, help session with services, and more, for the approximately 7,000 eligible seniors in the city.

When COVID-19 shut down the center, everything stopped and things haven’t been able to get going again, that is, until now.

The members of Senior, Inc. are committed to restoring services and programs that were stopped, and a new board of directors is now in place to guide their plans. There will be hurdles to replace the current void, but a vibrant group is taking on the challenge.

El Dorado County and the Commission on Aging are helping to revitalize the facility that has served local seniors since 1984.

The newly elected board members of Senior Inc., responsible for operating the South
Lake Tahoe Senior Center were sworn in at the annual membership meeting on December 16.
