SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – There will be a taste of winter this week around the Lake Tahoe Basin with a Winter Weather Advisory in place from 10 p.m. Monday through 4 p.m. Wednesday. The incoming storm will not be anything big by Tahoe standards, but without measurable snow in a month, we’ll take anything!
There will be cooler temperatures than we’ve seen in a few weeks, along with the Sierra snow, with a break expected on Thursday and Friday, with a slight warmup and lighter winds before a bigger storm heads to the Lake Tahoe Basin, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. The longer range forecast continues to favor a prolonged period of cold and stormy conditions over the Sierra with heavy snow (2 feet or more) and strong winds bringing potentially major travel hazards persisting from Saturday night or Sunday through the middle of next week.
