SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) is proud to recognize and celebrate its outstanding community partner, Heavenly Mountain Resort, for the extraordinary support it provides to its students and schools. Through the Epic Promise Foundation and the Epic for Everyone Program, Heavenly continues to expand access and opportunity for LTUSD students in meaningful and lasting ways.
Each year, all LTUSD fourth and fifth-grade students are given the opportunity to ski or snowboard for three full days, including lift tickets, equipment rentals, and professional lessons. For many students, this is their first experience on the mountain. This program ensures that every child has the opportunity to participate in snow sports and experience the beauty of our local environment.
Heavenly’s partnership extends throughout the school year. Students participate in fifth-grade snowshoeing with a United States Forest Service Ranger, eighth-grade snowshoeing in partnership with the South Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition, and Fifth Grade Epic Days featuring rides on the Gondola, tubing, the roller coaster, and the Sky Chair. These experiences also include Tahoe science lessons and career exploration opportunities through our Career and Technical Education and STEEC partners. In addition, Heavenly supports South Tahoe Middle School students through the SOS Outreach program and opens its base area and cross-country terrain for the school’s Nordic Ski teams.
Through the Vail Epic Promise grant, Heavenly provides services valued at more than $838,000, including lift tickets, lessons, and rental equipment, for LTUSD fourth and fifth-grade students. This remarkable investment reflects a deep commitment to our youth and our community.
LTUSD is deeply grateful to Heavenly Mountain Resort and Vail Resorts for their continued partnership and generosity in support of LTUSD students.
