ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. – Alpine County has announced its 4th annual Arbor Day Tree Planting event, taking place on Friday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the Indian Creek Day Use Area.
Hosted by the Forest Health Community Working Group, this community-driven event brings together local agencies, organizations, and volunteers to support forest health, watershed protection, and environmental stewardship across Alpine County.
Participants will assist in planting native tree species, including pinyon pine seedlings provided by the Washoe Environmental Protection Department and Jeffrey pine seedlings provided by The Sugar Pine Foundation and Liberty Utilities. These efforts contribute to long-term ecosystem resilience and help restore native habitats throughout the region.
The Indian Creek Day Use Area is located approximately three miles from Highway 89 on Airport Road and offers a scenic setting for this hands-on conservation effort.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate. Volunteers are asked to bring a water bottle, wear sun protection and closed-toe shoes. Gloves and tools will be provided, and light refreshments will be available.
“This event reflects Alpine County’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community collaboration,” said organizers. “By working together, we can ensure the health and sustainability of our forests for future generations.”
