UPDATE: One person is deceased and another injured in a two-vehicle collision on US50 near Sierra-at-Tahoe on Saturday. At approximately 5:04 p.m., a 2010 Honda Fit driven by an unidentified male made an unsafe turning movement from westbound US 50 into the eastbound lanes of US 50. The Fit subsequently collided with a 2024 Chevy Tahoe.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of the Honda Fit was pronounced deceased at the scene by Lake Valley Fire.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are not believed to be factors at this time.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has closed a portion of US50 near Sierra-at-Tahoe due to a fatal collision. The initial details show that a truck towing a boat was pulled over on the highway when it was hit by another car. Both were in the eastbound lanes.
Eastbound US50 is closed as of 5:40 p.m. Saturday, and there is no estimated time of reopening.
