EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The Board of Supervisors changed its public comment period procedures six months ago, and during the June 9 meeting, they will have a presentation on its effectiveness and discuss its effectiveness.

During the Board’s Good Governance Workshop in September 2025, they looked for opportunities to enhance efficiency, transparency, and public engagement. To accomplish this, they currently have one combined public comment period for closed session and consent calendar items, and one public comment period for all non-hearing agenda items. At the time of the new procedure, the supervisors said they would revisit the change in six months’ time to see if adjustments needed to be made.

Some members of the public expressed concern that the only chance they have to comment on an item is at the beginning of the meeting, before hearing discussion from the supervisors and staff.
