SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Multiple agencies responded to the report of a fire on Meadow Crest Drive near South Tahoe Public Utility District on Friday evening. CalFire, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTFR), and a fire team from Laramie, Wyoming, all responded. Lake Valley Fire Protection District had a team responding to the fire at Topaz Lake, as did SLTFR.

A call was received about a fire in the Trout Creek meadow just off the roadway. Since that area is on the border of El Dorado County and the City of South Lake Tahoe and near homes, all agencies initially responded. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which burned an area about 20 feet by 20 feet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Laramie’s fire team has been in South Lake Tahoe as part of a mutual-aid deployment to pre-position in fire-prone areas due to current conditions in the West.
