ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists that they have closed three mountain passes on SR89, SR4, and SR108 due to the incoming storm. Caltrans issues temporary pass closures for high elevation mountain highways when weather reports and storm forecasts indicate icy road conditions or the required use of traction control devices

SR89/Monitor Pass: Caltrans will have a temporary highway closure in place on SR-89/ Monitor Pass for the incoming storm. The temporary closure will extend from the SR-4/89 Junction (EB) to US-395 (WB) beginning Monday, October 13, at 1 p.m. through Thursday, October 16 at 12 p.m.

SR4/Ebbett’s Pass: The temporary closure will extend from Raymond Meadows (WB) to Lake Alpine (EB) beginning Monday at noon until noon Thursday.

SR108/Sonora Pass: The temporary closure will extend from Kennedy Meadows (EB) to just west of the Marine Corps Training Center (WB) beginning Monday (10/13) at 11 a,m, through Thursday (10/16/25) at 12 p.m.
