Senior citizens (and near-seniors) are invited to a virtual Senior Town Hall that Representative Kevin Kiley is hosting on Tuesday, October 28, at 6 p.m. With Medicare Open Enrollment now open through Dec. 7, many seniors may have questions or concerns.
Joining Kiley will be a representative from AARP, who will share expert insights and provide helpful guidance on navigating your options. They will answer questions about Medicare plans and Social Security benefits.
They will also discuss how this year’s budget law brings new opportunities for seniors, including:
- A higher standard deduction
- A new $6,000 special deduction
- Continued protection of Medicaid/Medi-Cal — with no reduction in benefits for enrolled seniors
So far this year, Kiley says nearly 100,000 people have attended one of his town halls.
