SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe City Council welcomed two new members at their meeting on Tuesday, December 10. Keith Roberts and David Jinkens won their seats in the November election and were sworn in. They join current council members Cody Bass, Tamara Wallace, and Scott Robbins.
The council then moved to appoint members to serve a one-year term as mayor and mayor pro-tem. Councilmember Scott Robbins nominated Cody Bass to return as mayor, but that motion failed. Tamara Wallace then jumped into the ring, and she was elected mayor with Bass taking the position of mayor pro tem. This will be her second term as South Lake Tahoe mayor.
In addition to the duties of a council member, the role of the mayor is to preside over the City Council meetings, sign official documents of the city, and represent the city at ceremonial functions. The mayor pro tempore, or tem, assumes the duties of the mayor in the mayor’s absence.
“I am honored to once again serve as mayor and deeply grateful for the trust our community has placed in me,” said Mayor Wallace. “Returning to this role is both a privilege and a responsibility I take to heart. I look forward to working alongside our residents, businesses, and city officials to create a brighter future for everyone. Together, we can build on past successes, embrace new opportunities, and ensure our city continues to thrive as a strong and vibrant community.”
