SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – With the assistance of members of the Caesars Republic/Harrah’s HEROs employee organization, Bread & Broth served a hearty and tasty meal to the 115 dinner guests who attended the Monday Meal on December 22.

The menu, featuring meatballs in mushroom gravy, baked yams, green bean casserole, a ranch dressing salad, and a delicious assortment of desserts, was a welcome treat to deal with the cold and rainy weather that day.

The HEROs typically sponsor an Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) on a quarterly basis and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to host the Monday Meal during the week of Christmas.  Darlene Winkelman, casino operations manager and Bread & Broth’s (B&B) AAD sponsorship coordinator, shared, “This time of year is so very special and being able to serve those who are in need brings JOY to our hearts!”

Darlene was joined by fellow Ceasars Republic/Harrah’s HEROs members Jeff Colameco, Sabrina Fagliano, Kerry Gies, and Janeen White.  These seasoned sponsor crew members brought their service expertise to help the B&B volunteers with the meal setup, warmly greeted each of the dinner guests, and shared their Christmas cheer and holiday joy with both the dinner guests and B&B volunteers throughout the dinner event.

Sabina Fagliano commented, “I feel very fortunate to be able to give back and help my community. I love volunteering at Bread & Broth!”   A very important aspect of B&B AAD is that each individual participating in their designated Monday Meal service experiences first-hand how their financial donation and personal involvement impacts those attending the dinner.

For many of the dinner guests, the Monday Meal is often the only hot, full-course meal they will have during the week. Also, the food that they receive at the food giveaway tables provides additional healthy meals for the rest of the week.  The giveaway food includes fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, milk, eggs, butter, bread and pastries, and an assortment of other food staples – items dinner guests often can no longer afford due to the rising cost of basic food necessities.

B&B extends kudos to the Caesars Republic/Harrah’s HEROs for their continuing support of not only the Monday meals but for all of the programs they promote to serve the community throughout the year.
