A band of thunderstorms, carrying pea to marble-sized hail, heavy wind and lightning has moved over the Lake Tahoe region late Sunday. The National Weather Service in Reno began tracking the strong thunderstorm system near Carnelian Bay on the north side of Lake Tahoe nears Kings Beach.
The storm, moving southwest at around 10 mph, carries many lightning bolts, moderate rain amounting to about one half inch per hour, which is reducing visibility in the basin to less than three miles.
