SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe is hosting a community meeting to discuss the Bijou Connector Project. City staff will share the proposed trail connections that would link to the existing trails from the Al Tahoe Mobility Project and the California Tahoe Conservancy Dennis T. Machida Memorial Greenway Trail all within Bijou Community Park. The city seeks input from the community on the suggested trail connections.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Friends of the Library will be hosting local author Todd Borg on July 25 at the South Lake Tahoe. He will be discussing his new book, Tahoe Flight.

From 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., there will be a book signing, followed by a program from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is inviting the public to a webinar to receive an update on the Department’s progress and future plans in collaborative efforts to build a reliable statewide electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The Zoom webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 12 from 2-3 p.m. and will be available online later for those unable to attend.

Clean Up the Lake and The League to Save Lake Tahoe, two leading environmental organizations in the Tahoe basin, have forged a powerful partnership to address the aftermath of extensive littering at Zephyr Cove following the July 4th celebrations. In their second year of partnership for the 5th of July Cleanup, the two organizations led a collaborative cleanup effort where dedicated volunteers successfully removed an astonishing 6,318 lbs of litter from the beach and beneath the surface of the lake.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The second annual Vatican Speakeasy fundraiser returns to the Tallac Historic site on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Presented by the Great Basin Institute (GBI) and USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU), the event celebrates the culture and history of the prohibition era, with period-appropriate cuisine, beverages, attire, and dance. Hosted outdoors at the Pope Estate Courtyard, event gates open at 6 p.m. and close at 10 p.m.

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Construction of the new 2.3-mile Tunnel Creek Singletrack Trail is now underway, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Tahoe Fund, a Recreation Trails Program grant from Nevada State Parks, and trail-building efforts by Great Basin Institute and the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA). This new trail will reduce conflicts between hikers and bikers on the busy Tunnel Creek Road, which is a popular route to and from Monkey Rock, Marlette Flume Trail, Incline Flume Trail, and the Tahoe Rim Trail.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - For years it was Tahoe Douglas Fire Division Chief/Fire Marshal Eric Guevin who inspected the fireworks barges sitting offshore on Lake Tahoe. This year was different though, and it wasn't Guevin checking out the safety of operation as he is newly retired.

His service to the community was recently celebrated at the fire house on Elk Point Road, one that started off with a 911 Emergency Services dispatch announcement over the airwaves announcing Guevin's retirement.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just as with all other law enforcement agencies around Lake Tahoe, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was very busy over the 4th of July holiday. Between June 30 and July 4, the local officers wrote 93 moving citations and ticketed about the same for illegal and unsafe parking, many along SR89 at Emerald Bay.
