LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Defending champion Tony Romo is once again the betting favorite to win the American Century Championship next month, according to Caesars Sportsbook. Steph Curry, Annika Sorenstam, and John Smoltz are also among the contenders as the 34th annual celebrity golf competition returns for its national television showcase July 14-16 in Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Basin Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is being updated to reflect the needs of local communities around the basin. It has been seven years since the plan was last updated, and during that time there have been a lot of changes in the landscape, including the completion of many fuels reduction projects, substantial development of Fire Adapted Communities, and the impacts of the Caldor Fire in South Lake Tahoe.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A single fixed-wing aircraft went down in Lake Tahoe Saturday morning at Rubicon Bay. The two people on board were rescued by citizen boaters in the area, with one of those from the plane having a serious head injury, according to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) Captain Michael Lensing.

The plane is now fully submerged underwater.

EDSO has units responding to assist and their boat is on the water at the scene to watch for fuel leaks and other Hazmat issues.

Wild Things Inc. will bring an exciting mix of animals and share a message of conservation and appreciation for wild animals.

Vincent Michael Lee passed away at the age of 65 on June 26, 2023, after suffering a traumatic head injury from a fall. A memorial service will be held for him at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Theresa’s church in South Lake Tahoe, California.

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) is asking the public to stay on official trails and avoid creating new undesignated trails. One area of particular concern is Rabe Meadow near Burke Creek and Nevada Beach.

National Forest lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin include hundreds of miles of official trails designed and constructed to protect wildlife habitat and water quality.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is preparing for the upcoming 4th of July celebration and is wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day.
