Pipe Keeper Training

Event Date:
March 22, 2018 - 4:00pm

Pipe Keepers is a citizen science program to address the threat of stormwater pollution entering Lake Tahoe. Runoff from storms and snowmelt is the largest source of pollution that degrades Lake clarity. League staff will train you to survey local neighborhoods and collect stormwater samples during rain and snowmelt events.

The first step is to attend a Pipe Keeper Training to learn how to monitor stormwater infrastructure. Trained volunteers will then conduct monthly monitoring of assigned pipes to report any issues and help prioritize the most polluting pipes. Volunteers can also participate in stormwater sampling efforts to collect turbidity data during the most critical storms and snowmelt events.

All ages are welcome on Thursday, March 22 from 4-6 pm at our Pipe Keeper Training. The training will be held in South Lake Tahoe. Please register at keeptahoeblue.org/events for more detailed location information.
