Art Exhibit: Ellen Nunes - Creation Series - Make Tahoe "quantum" installation

Event Date:
April 20, 2018 - 5:00pm

Join MakeTahoe.com for the latest installment of “Make Tahoe quantum” at Benko Art Gallery on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as we present the art of Ellen Nunes.

Ellen Nunes is a professional artist and 35 year local resident to Lake Tahoe.

Ellen is currently focusing on two bodies of work which are both water based and inspired by  the natural world. Working outside in Tahoe's freezing nighttime temperatures, she paints with acrylic and rock salt. "The right combination of water, pigment and temperature allows salt crystals to melt, creating saltwater pathways spirited by nighttime breezes and falling snow. Each painting is unique to the qualities of the moment and cannot be repeated."

Ellen has spent years painting the aspen trees of Lake Tahoe in watercolor. Inspired by the seasonal changes at Lake Tahoe, she enjoys capturing the essence of a scene, be it a peaceful, snowy, reflective moment, or one set ablaze in a cacophony of riotous color.

Ellen is an active member of the Tahoe Activist Artists and is passionate about making change in her community by creating art that raises awareness to social and environmental issues.

She is also a member of the Tahoe Art League, El Dorado Arts Council, Tahoe Arts Alliance, and the awesome new artist collective "The High Vibe Society”.

This event is free and open to the public.
