Lake Tahoe History Comes Alive for LTUSD Third Graders

Event Date:
October 30, 2012 (All day)

The Lake Tahoe Museum has spent the month of October hosting numerous 3rd grade classes, sharing with them our local history in an educational and exciting way. As part of their curriculum, 3rd graders are required to learn about the development of their community and how it has changed over time.

Costumed volunteers delighted the students with stories of those who came before them. Using artifacts and tools from the past, students were given opportunities for hands on learning. Touring the Museum was a first for many of the students and they were very inquisitive and attentive. Exploring the fully furnished 1930s log cabin evoked many a "wow" exclamation.

The previous inhabitants of the Tahoe basin left a rich legacy, a great deal of which is on display at the Museum. The students walked away with a deeper knowledge of those that came before them.
