Two more waves of stormy weather for Lake Tahoe to start off the week

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A Winter Storm Warning is in place for the Lake Tahoe Basin until 10 a.m. Wednesday. After a fairly mild Sunday before the next storm system arrived, a wetter storm is now in the area. It is expected to bring heavy wet Sierra snow with good spillover rains into lower valleys though daytime highs remain mild. The timing of the heaviest rain/snow will be Sunday night into Monday, but heavy snow showers will likely persist through early Wednesday. Significant impacts to travel are likely in the Sierra to end the holiday weekend. A rise in streams and some minor flooding in poor drainage areas are possible in the Tahoe Basin, eastern Sierra foothills, and far western Nevada valleys through Monday.

Calm After the Storm - Precipitation chances look to taper off by Wednesday afternoon with relatively dry conditions expected through the rest of the week. More active weather may return towards the end of the month, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
