Four new officers sworn in for South Lake Tahoe Police Department

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two South Tahoe High graduates are among the four newly sworn in officers for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD).

Jason Fritz and Grant Fagen were sworn in at City Hall on Friday, Jason Nixon was sworn in on Thursday as he graduated from the Sacramento Police Academy and John Miller started work in October.

Fritz began his career with the City of Mountain View Police Department in 1997 as a police assistant. He graduated De Anza College in 1998 with an associate degree in Criminal Justice. He then attended the South Bay Regional Police Academy in San Jose, CA, and in 2000, he was hired by the Mountain View Police Department as a full time Police Officer. He moved to Sacramento in 2006, and where he was a Police Officer for the City of Citrus Heights.

Fagen is a 2015 graduate of South Tahoe High School. He put himself through the San Diego Regional Public Safety Training Institute Police Academy and graduated earlier this year.

Jason Nixon graduated South Lake Tahoe High School in 1998. After high school, he served eight years in the Air Force rising to the rank of staff sergeant. He moved back to the Tahoe Area in 2007 and worked in the family business, Nixon's Heating Air Conditioning and Plumbing, for ten years. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department sent him to the Sacramento police academy where he graduated on December 20, 2018. He is married with three sons.

John Miller was sworn in in October. Miller was born and raised in Sparks, Nevada and is a second generation police officer. His dad retired from the Sparks Police Department. The younger Miller spent three years in the Navy, and then worked as a reserve sergeant for the Carson City Sheriff’s Office from 2010-2012 followed by time served with the Pyramid Lake Police Department.
