SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The California Department of Transporation (Caltrans) is working on roads at Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County this week. Here is a list of both long-term and short-term projects in the area.

Old West Trio and local musicians headline events at Dangberg Historic Park

Search teams from Placer and El Dorado County Sheriff's offices search for men missing in area rivers

The Placer County Sheriff's Office was called to the American River Confluence Tuesday evening just before 5:00 p.m. on a report of a young man hanging from a tree, yelling for help. One of their deputies saw the unidentified man going down the river but lost sight of him. The Placer Sheriff helicopter was called in to aid in the search but they could not locate the missing man. The search was called off due to darkness.
The American River Confluence is in Auburn.

A Celebration of Life is planned on Friday, May 31, for long-time local resident Judy Brown. The casual event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Flight Deck Bar & Grill inside the Lake Tahoe Airport.

Most traffic-interfering work will be limited from 6 a.m. Friday, May 24 through 10 p.m. Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day Weekend. The following are the current CalTrans projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Services are set for the beloved Catholic Priest Father John Grace who passed away on Saturday, May 4.
To honor the life of the 98-year-old man who touched many generations in South Lake Tahoe, the South Lake Tahoe City Manager Frank Rush has asked that all City facilities fly their flags at half-staff.

It was a celebration of the volunteers that make their Monday Night meals, Second Serving meals and Bread & Broth 4 Kids so successful in feeding those in need, not only of food but for camaraderie and community.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Arts Alliance are partnering for an art gallery reception on Monday, March 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall.
This quarter’s artist will be Yvonne McGrath presenting her Fantasy Flowers Series. She will be speaking at the event.
The art reception will include a meet and greet with displayed artists and city officials. All are welcome to attend. The event is free of charge.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - John Albert Thompson, a Norwegian immigrant nicknamed Snowshoe Thompson, was the legendary 'Mailman of the Sierras' and a man many consider to be the father of California skiing.
His life will be celebrated in South Lake Tahoe on March 2, 2019, during the 19th annual Snowshoe Thompson Ski & Snowshoe Celebration at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost for the day is a $10 donation for adults and kids under 12 are free.
