"Elevating Humanity" theme of 4th annual TEDx South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Elevating Humanity is the theme of the 4th annual TEDx South Lake Tahoe at the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre on Saturday, October 19, 2019.
The goal of organizers this year is to uplift individuals and spark positivity to make the world a better place. All of the speakers presenting during the evening will use this theme as they inspire attendees.
So far, three speakers have been revealed and over the next few weeks, the other seven will be introduced on the TEDx website, http://tedxsouthlaketahoe.com.

here was no shortage of bad news this year.
Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria devastated the lives of hundreds in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands and caused billions in damages.
A mass shooter killed 58 people and injured hundreds attending a concert in Las Vegas and another mass shooter killed 26 people, including children, in a Texas church.
However, there were many good things that happened amid the torrent of bad news. Here’s a sampling:
A homeless man spent his last $20 to keep her safe. She’s raised $402,000 to repay him.
South Lake Tahoe sisters found safe in Oregon

Update 9:30 a.m. - Melissa Lea, 18, and her 7-year-old sister Kalila have been found safe in Oregon.
A grocery store clerk near the eclipse festival recognized them from the missing persons' report.
No other information is available at this time.

Two sisters who traveled from South Lake Tahoe to attend the Symbiosis eclipse festival in Oregon have not been heard from since Sunday, according to the Crook County Sheriff's Office.

For the past few weeks, "celebrities" from South Lake Tahoe have been practicing with their professional partners, all in a quest to win the coveted mirror ball trophy in the Tahoe Arts Project's 4th annual Dancing with the Tahoe Stars
All of the rehearsing, and nursing aches and pains, have come down to this, the final event which will be held at MontBleu Resort on Saturday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m.
South Tahoe Now caught up with a few of the couples in their secret rehearsals as they polished up their dance moves in preparation for the big night.

We're at the beginning of another new year and a lot of us use this day to reflect upon the last 365 days and look forward to the next. The lists of annual resolutions are made, but how may of us actually stick to them?

South Tahoe Pop Warner Cheer & Football Sign Ups

Though it's still baseball season, plans have been forming for the 2014 fall season of Pop Warner Football & Cheer.
Sign ups start Tuesday, May 27. Players have three opportunities to sign up, tonight, June 17 and June 19.
The program if open to boys and girls ages 5-14 (must be 5 as of 08/01/14 to age 14 as of 08/01/14).

If you’ve visited Sierra Athletic Club, located in the South Shore’s Tahoe Keys lately, you’ve probably been the recipient of a contagious smile from Phillips, the gym manager. A Stage 3 breast cancer survivor, Phillips has been a cheerleader and true inspiration to hundreds of women in South Lake Tahoe.
