As part of their mission to give back to the community and protect the environment, Vail Resorts gave away 49 grants to Lake Tahoe area groups during a ceremony on Tuesday at Heavenly Valley.
Marijuana grow houses becoming a problem in South Lake Tahoe

There are an estimated 500 unpermitted, illegal marijuana grow houses on the South Shore according to local law enforcement. In the city limits, South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler estimates there are 300 houses where marijuana is growing illegally with another 200 in the El Dorado County portion of the South Shore according to SLEDNET’s Matt Underhill. (SLEDNET stands for South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team, a joint drug enforcement task force)
Tahoe Rim Trail Association has events left to enjoy this summer

What began as a dream in 1977 is now a 165-mile trail around Lake Tahoe for hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers. Retired U.S. Forest Service officer Glen Hampton researched and explored places along the perimeter for the trail to go. He nvestigated aged pathways used by early pioneers, Basque Shepherds, and the Washoe People. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA)was founded in 1981 and construction on the trail began three years later.
South Lake Tahoe Hunger Issues Addressed in Meeting and Food Distribution

The Food Bank of El Dorado County was in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday to accomplish two things: Distribute emergency food supplies to locals in need, and to hold a meeting with South Lake Tahoe agencies who assist people living with hunger.
In 2013, the El Dorado County Food Bank distributed 1.8 million pounds of food to county residents with a value of $3,000,000. The agency is not county funded and gets their food from donations, private donors, growers, businesses and the USDA.
LTCC Joins Bread & Broth to Provide Hot Meals for Hungry Locals

A hearty group of volunteers from Lake Tahoe Community College donated their time to Bread and Broth recently, helping to prepare and serve a hot meal to hungry locals as part of the Adopt a Day of Nutrition program. Four LTCC managers donned aprons and kitchen gloves to serve food, prepare giveaway bags, and assist with the cleanup.
The HGTV Dream Home Giveaway

For the past 16 years, HGTV has been giving away custom built, unique homes to lucky viewers around the country. For the 2014 home, producers came to the Lake Tahoe area in search for the new location and have chosen to build in the Schaffer's Mill neighborhood of Truckee.

When it comes to adventure sports films, there's the edge of insanity and then there's the abyss. For 10 years the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival has taken its viewers on a celluloid and digital tour filled with rapid-succession footage and no-holds-bar outdoor drama played out across continents, continental shelves and all points in between.
The film festival returns to Lake Tahoe, Saturday, Dec. 8, at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa, and promises plenty of mountaintops, cliffhangers and enough high-energy entertainment between showings to ignite fervor for the New Year and its spectrum of outdoor adventure sports. The night includes guest speakers, action photo displays, break-dancers, DJs and a handful of surprises.

November 23, 2011 (All day) The Brotherhood Motorcycle Club wishes to thank local businesses and community members here in South Lake Tahoe and Stateline for their generous donations for our annual fundraiser, HOGG WILD XVI. Because of our community’s generosity, we were able to provide 50 complete Turkey dinners to families in need this Thanksgiving. The giveaway at Sierra Community Church was a huge success thanks to the following individuals, businesses and community members. 'The Art of FLIGHT' Screening at MontBleu

A new breed of action sports film comes to life as Red Bull Media House, in association with Brain Farm Digital Cinema, present "The Art of Flight," a Curt Morgan film on Monday, Sept. 19 at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show beginning at 8 p.m.
