Missing snowboarder found alive, stayed overnight at Horizon

A search for missing snowboarder Corey Hoffman ended this morning when the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was contacted by a family member who informed them that Hoffman had phoned his father and advised he had spent the night at Horizon Casino Resort.

Missing woman found alive in Alpine County, body of boyfriend found

A woman was found injured in Alpine County after she and her boyfriend car got stuck in the snow for nearly a week. The body of her boyfriend was found nearby. Minden man dies in Pine Nut mountains ATV accident

A 19-year-old Minden man died Thursday after the ATV vehicle he was driving was struck head-on by a Ford F-150 truck. The accident happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Sunrise Pass Road near Juniper Valley behind the Johnson Lane subdivision in the Pinenut Mountains.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies say the dune buggy, driven by Daniel Palmer, was speeding west on a dirt road when it slid and drifted head on into the path of an oncoming older Ford F-150.

The El Dorado County Department of Environmental Health was notified this week by the California Department of Public Health that two additional chipmunks in the South Lake Tahoe area have tested positive for plague. El Dorado County Search and Rescue deployed to 11 calls throughout Lake Tahoe and Sierra

Mountain lion found at Reno casino released near Lake Tahoe

A nearly 100-pound mountain lion that tried to get inside Harrah's in downtown Reno Friday morning is back in the wild in the mountains above Lake Tahoe.
The mountain lion was tranquilized and kept in Carson City Friday and early Saturday morning before officials headed to Lake Tahoe where the cat was released above Spooner Summit, said Chris Healy of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
