The contamination of these epidural injections was the result of contamination by a single compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts, New England Compounding Center (NECC).

Ohio resident Betty Petrick, 71, was pronounced dead at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the office.

California layoffs at a four-year low
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 07/25/2012 - 2:28amNew figures show mass layoffs last year in California were the lowest in four-years. California employers took 4,378 "mass layoff actions" last year, meaning layoffs involving at least 50 workers.
"In terms of the last couple of years it's actually down which is a good sign," said Todd Johnson, an economist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics which released the data. California posted the lowest number of mass layoff actions since 2007. Those actions resulted in 377,413 people losing their jobs.

Services for legendary radio commentator Travus T. Hipp will be held this Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Hipp died early Friday morning, May 18, at his Silver City home. He was 75, as old as the Golden Gate Bridge in his beloved San Francisco.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Gathering, gnoshing and remembering will begin at the Silver City Community Center, 385 High Street, at 10:00 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Those who wish may bring more.
