Nominations announced for the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Awards

The Tahoe Chamber collected 190 nominations from the community for the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Award to celebrate the businesses, non-profits and individuals that make the South Shore of Lake Tahoe so unique. Local businesses have been a resilient backbone of the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and honoring their contributions, achievements and milestones is more important than ever before.

This important awards program salutes those businesses that are making significant contributions to the South Shore economy.

Nominations revealed for Blue Ribbon Awards

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce has announced the nominees for their annual Blue Ribbon Awards with 80 nominations from the community. The program recognizes businesses and individuals who excel in working as one in an effort to improve the quality of life on the South Shore.

Tahoe Tidbits: Cork & More changing hands, Postmarc Hotel to expand

The popular and long-time South Lake Tahoe business, the Cork & More, has sold. After almost 40 years of supplying wine, cheese, gifts and deli options to an adoring public, owners Jim and Kim Warlow have decided to retire. They were originally planning to close last Fall, but when potential buyers started to look into purchasing the store on Al Tahoe Blvd., the Warlows decided to hold off closure.

Escrow is expected to close around July 1 Jim said. After that, he's looking forward to enjoying Lake Tahoe's year round recreation from the slopes to the bike trails.

Tahoe Chamber announces nominees for Blue Ribbon Awards

The Tahoe Chamber announced the nominations Tuesday for the 2015 Blue Ribbon Awards. There were 150 nominations received from the community for their annual awards program that recognizes exceptional South Shore businesses for excellence in service, entrepreneurship and experience among other areas.

How the City of South Lake Tahoe plans to spend $73 million

City Manager Nancy Kerry and Mark Carlson, the City's Administrative Services Director presented the 2015-16 Fiscal year budget to the South Lake Tahoe City Council during a workshop Tuesday.

"There is a lot we can be proud of," Kerry said.

The budget process has been ongoing since May, involving staff in making the decision on where to cut back, and where to spend.

New owner changes name of Fantasy Inn to Postmarc Hotel & Spa Suites

In case you hadn't noticed, the Fantasy Inn sign has been replaced by a new one, Postmarc Hotel & Spa Suites.

Capping a major remodel of all rooms, the new owner wanted to capture travel and adventure while highlighting the South Lake Tahoe mountain lifestyle with vintage photographs, all new furniture, fixtures, carpet, paint, lighting, and driveway.

The concept of a romantic place to stay was transformed with new decor "and a new Tahoe attitude."

They will still be offering weddings, both inside and outside.
