Lake Tahoe pilot bus service to run from Incline Village to Sand Harbor
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 4:43pmA new bus service at Lake Tahoe that will run from Incline Village to Sand Harbor Beach State Recreation Area will begin this month.
A collaboration of the Tahoe Transportation District, the Nevada Division of State Parks, Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Highway Patrol and Washoe County School District will inaugurate the East Shore Express, a pilot Park and Ride bus service beginning June 15 through Sept. 3, 2012.
Lake Tahoe trails workshop on June 7

Nevada Division of State Parks will host a trail workshop to plan the future of trails within Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. All trail users are encouraged to attend. The goal is to gather ideas and feedback based on the draft map.
The workshop will be on Thursday, June 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Incline Golf Course Chateau located at 955 Fairway Boulevard in Incline Village. Staff from the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the U.S. Forest Service will also be there to answer questions.
Eric S. Holton of Gardnerville ID'd in North Lake Tahoe truck ramp accident
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 04/24/2012 - 1:44pmThe deceased driver of the commercial truck that crashed through the runaway ramp at Mount Rose Highway near Incline Village on Monday has been identified as Eric S. Holton, 31 of Gardnerville.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched at 2:48 p.m. to the accident on State Route 431, approximately one-half mile east of State Route 28, near Incline Village. The vehicle involved was a 2006 gray Freightliner truck tractor pulling a 1989 flat bed trailer transporting composite decking materials traveling westbound on the two-lane highway.
One dead in North Lake Tahoe big-rig accident
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 04/23/2012 - 6:30pmUPDATE: 10 PM: The runaway truck ramp at the bottom of Mount Rose Highway in Incline Village was the scene of another tragedy today as a truck driver was killed trying to stop his vehicle using the ramp.
The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that the truck was carrying composite decking material on a flatbed trailer. The driver used the ramp to stop the vehicle, but the cargo broke loose and crushed the cab of the truck.
Chain controls throughout Lake Tahoe region after storm pounds the Sierra

The winter storm the finally came to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra has dumped several feet of snow, with a few more inches on the way, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. With the heavy stuff now having passed through, the real fun has begun at Lake Tahoe ski areas, who are reporting three or more feet of fresh snow from the storm. Top to bottom, up to five feet of snow has fallen over the past few days at many ski resorts.
In-town public sled hills disappear

And though there are plenty of places to sled and tube around the city limits of South Lake Tahoe, the last of the remaining free places in town have dried up.
And not for a lack of snow, either. Two sled and tube hill favorites have been removed from the public after recent projects leveled some of the property to make way for expansions.
New bus shelters sprout up in South Lake Tahoe area; more on the way

The operator of BlueGo, the South Lake Tahoe area public transportation system, has installed four new bus shelters in the city with plans for three more in early 2012 to provide additional safety, convenience and comfort for riders.
Pedestrians Killed in Incline Village Identified as North Lake Tahoe couple

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports Robert C. Mathis and Linda Mathis, both 46 and husband and wife, died from injuries sustained in the accident. Family members have been notified.
Walnut Creek man killed by California Highway Patrol SUV at Lake Tahoe on Highway 50
Submitted by Editor on Sun, 01/01/2012 - 3:04amUPDATED 1:30PM: A 21-year-old Walnut Creek, Calif. man was struck and killed by a California Highway Patrol vehicle early Sunday morning, New Year's Day, on Highway 50 near Stateline at Lake Tahoe, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The accident happened between Lake Village and Elks Point Road and was reported around 12:40 a.m. Sunday morning, said NHP Troopers Mike Edgell and Chuck Allen. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released pending notification of family, died at the scene of the accident.
Two die in Incline Village vehicle pedestrian accident; Grass Valley man arrested

Two pedestrians were killed Friday night when they were struck by a pickup, shortly before 8 p.m. in Incline Village on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports. The driver of the pickup, Christopher Torii Smith, 25, of Grass Valley, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence causing death. Names of the deceased have not been released.
Caltrans finishes three Tahoe Basin road projects

Regional transportation issues will be focus of November workshops

The Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization will host two workshops November 1 and 3 to get public input on transportation priorities. The workshops are part of a four-year update of the Regional Transportation Plan (Mobility 2035) being carried out by TMPO and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. The agencies encourage public input to better serve the needs of the community, according to TRPA Transportation Planning Manager Nick Haven.
