The U.S. Forest Service and organizers of January's Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month are working together to promote and recognize the event at Lake Tahoe and elsewhere, highlighting the health benefits of winter outdoor activity.

Cave Rock and Sand Harbor boat launches closed Christmas and New Years Day

The Lake Tahoe boat launch facilities at Cave Rock and Sand Harbor are closing on both Christmas, December 25, and New Year’s Day, January 1, 2012. No inspections or decontaminations will be available either of these days.
These closures are due to the holidays and program staff shortages. Normal operating hours throughout the winter are daily, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Cave Rock and Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Sand Harbor. Efforts are underway to adjust and extend these hours to better accommodate fishermen.
