This fun-filled event allows community members to become familiar with the officers and command staff that serve South Lake Tahoe. Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes? Now's your chance.

The 2nd annual Scholarship Education Forum will be held in El Dorado County this September, with one event in South Lake Tahoe and another one in Placerville.

These forums are for donors, funders, and people thinking about providing scholarships to the class of 2024. They have been created to help you understand the EDCF scholarship process for high school seniors as they move on in the world and to help you create the best scholarship possible based on your philosophy and philanthropy!

This is a free event and food and drinks will be provided.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Al Tahoe neighborhood is holding a Community Clean-up Day on Saturday, August 5, 2023. It will be a great opportunity to get to know other members of the community who are working hard to keep South Lake Tahoe safer from wildfires.

Refreshments will be provided at 768 Los Angeles Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You will be able to "meet and greet" the hard-working fire department leaders and chipping crew members, and the Al Tahoe Firewise core team.

TAHOE CITY, Calif. - Participants of all ages and abilities on wheels are welcome to join Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) as they ride 8 or 28 miles to raise funds for its breast cancer education, prevention, and survivorship programs. While raising funds participants promote the B4BC mission of staying healthy and being active.

Participants can also join in on the fun virtually by cruising down their local trail or path and posting to social media if they can’t make it in person.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Tahoe High School (STHS) graduate Nick Sanchez has overcome more than youth should have to, but despite everything, he is on his way to college and playing soccer at the next level. Nick will be playing for the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe (BGCLT) is inviting the kids of the community on Friday, July 28 at 3 p.m. as the Honey Bee Ice Cream truck stops by the club.

BCGLT wants to give all kids the opportunity to enjoy a delicious cold treat!

Instead of collecting at the ice cream truck, donations are being accepted at the front desk or at www.bgclt.org.

The club's goal is to raise $1,000 to cover the cost of the ice cream.

Tahoe Douglas Rotary is now accepting golf foursome signups to play in their popular annual Fun-Raiser Charity Cup Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 17 at the Lake Tahoe Golf Course. For decades the Rotary Club became synonymous with St. Patrick's Day fun with its annual silent auction and celebration. While there won’t be free wine and Irish jigs on the golf course (well unless you feel like dancing of course), the Rotarians have pledged to host a memorable day on the links! The Club will cap off the day with a 19th Hole Awards Happy Hour followed by an End of Summer Weenie Roast. 

Join officers from the California Highway Patrol at their next Coffee With A Cop event on Wednesday, July 26. They will be gathering with locals and other members of law enforcement at the Cutthroat Brewing Co. in Markleeville from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Coffee With A Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions & learn more about the CHP's work in Alpine County.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Longtime Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Board of Trustees member Kerry S. David was recently honored by the Community College League of California for 30 years of dedicated service as a community college trustee in the state. David was given the Fulfilling the Trust award, which honors elected trustees statewide who have served with distinction at California community colleges for either 20 or 30 years.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging has a limited supply of Senior Farmers’ Market check booklets for El Dorado County older adults who meet age and income guidelines. Each eligible senior may receive one booklet. Each booklet has five checks redeemable for $10 each to be used at Certified Farmers’ Markets to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs, and raw unprocessed honey. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week is July 17-21, and to get the week started off, El Dorado County's Chief Probation Officer Brian Richart cooked a big breakfast for staff on Monday.

Richart's department is 122 strong with staff on both the west and east slopes of the county. Since 2014 Richart has cooked up a big breakfast for staff, and he will repeat what he did in South Lake Tahoe on Monday and again on Thursday on the West Slope.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - MasterCraft has been involved in the American Century Championship (ACC) for a few years now, offering celebrities and players the opportunity to go out on their boats between rounds. This year, celebrities could enjoy their time on the water while also supporting a great cause. The ‘Surf to Save Lives’ campaign was launched in May by MasterCraft to raise funds and awareness for the St. Jude mission.

They had a large display of boats near the 17th tee all week, as well as rides on the lake.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A family heading home after a fun-filled holiday weekend in South Lake Tahoe was involved in the devastating collision on Pioneer Trail that killed not only a 17-year-old local man but also a three-month-old baby.

"In the blink of an eye, our lives have been forever shattered as baby Charlie, previously declared brain dead, passed away on July 11, 2023, at 8:05 p.m.," said the baby's aunt.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Housing El Dorado, in partnership with the El Dorado Community Foundation, is conducting a mobile home park rent survey to assist Housing El Dorado in their ongoing efforts to improve affordable housing options within El Dorado County, including South Lake Tahoe. If you are a current resident of a mobile home park within El Dorado County, you are invited to participate in this survey online or through one of many collection locations throughout the county (listed below).

The survey period is July 17th, 2023 - August 14th, 2023.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Optimist Club's annual Day in Paradise Duck Races will be held at Tahoe Paradise Park on Saturday, July 22 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The day full of family-friendly fun will include the duck races starting at noon, a beer garden, live music, a car show and shine, and food trucks with burgers, pizza, kettle corn, sno-cones, and more.

There is also a free bike valet provided by the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — South Lake Tahoe’s first indoor mini golf course, Flatstick Pub, also known as Tipsy Putt, will be teaming up with Live Violence Free to give back to South Lake Tahoe’s community. Each Sunday in July, Flatstick Pub will donate $1 for every beer and $1 for every round of mini golf purchased.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Tahoe Art League will highlight 17 artists this year during the 16th annual Artists Studio Tour that spans two weekends this summer, July 28–30, and returning the following weekend, August 4–6.

The Free self-guided tour will include a variety of artistic venues including acrylic, oil, ink, dye on silk, pastel, mixed media and watercolor painting, photography, and copper wall sculpture.
