As an extension of activities involved in the celebration, the members of the El Dorado County Probation Department’s South Lake Tahoe office elected to honor and support the South Lake Tahoe community by sponsoring a Bread & Broth (B&B) Monday Meal. through the B&B’s Adopt A Day (AAD) of Nourishment program.

Cyclists and runners crossing country for Ulman 4k For Cancer stop by South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A group of eighteen men and women are spending the summer running and cycling 4,000 miles across the country to raise awareness and funds for the Ulman Foundation. Their endeavor, 4K for Cancer, is a program of the foundation which is a non-profit organization that changes lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer.

The 2nd annual Scholarship Education Forum will be held in El Dorado County this September, with one event in South Lake Tahoe and another one in Placerville.

These forums are for donors, funders, and people thinking about providing scholarships to the class of 2024. They have been created to help you understand the EDCF scholarship process for high school seniors as they move on in the world and to help you create the best scholarship possible based on your philosophy and philanthropy!

This is a free event and food and drinks will be provided.

TAP Music on the Beach fundraiser at Lakeshore Lodge

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Tahoe Arts Project (TAP) is holding its annual Music on the Beach on Thursday, August 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lakeshore Lodge and Spa. Gate opens at 6 p.m.

Performing for the evening is the Wesley Orsolic Band with special guest Mauro Di Gioia on saxophone.

The suggested donation for the event is $20.

Soroptimist Stadium in South Lake Tahoe gets new warning track

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) has finished the installation of the warning track at Soroptimist Stadium: Home of Girls Softball at the South Tahoe Middle School.

They would like to thank all the donors who made it possible.

SISLT members began their softball field renovation project on this field with a $325,000 contribution and have been managing the upgrades in cooperation with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District to provide girls with Title IX-compliant facilities.

BCGLT wants to give all kids the opportunity to enjoy a delicious cold treat!

When I began this position as Executive Director of the El Dorado Community Foundation 17 years ago, I was so very excited to serve and embrace South Lake Tahoe. An area that holds many memories for me all the way back to the age of 14. From the snow-covered slopes to watching my grandmother play slot machines through the window of Harrah’s in the ’60s.

Today, that storyline has greatly expanded to include LTCC, Tahoe Magic, Shinning Stars, South Tahoe High, The Longest Table, the League to Save the Lake, community support during the Caldor Fire, and so much more.

Free Senior Farmers’ Market check booklets available in El Dorado County

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - The El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging has a limited supply of Senior Farmers’ Market check booklets for El Dorado County older adults who meet age and income guidelines. Each eligible senior may receive one booklet. Each booklet has five checks redeemable for $10 each to be used at Certified Farmers’ Markets to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs, and raw unprocessed honey. Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week celebrated in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision (PPPS) Week is July 17-21, and to get the week started off, El Dorado County's Chief Probation Officer Brian Richart cooked a big breakfast for staff on Monday.

Richart's department is 122 strong with staff on both the west and east slopes of the county. Since 2014 Richart has cooked up a big breakfast for staff, and he will repeat what he did in South Lake Tahoe on Monday and again on Thursday on the West Slope.

Angel of Tahoe to be honored posthumously for contributions to Lake Tahoe Community College

MasterCraft at Lake Tahoe supported its Surf to Save Lives campaign

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - MasterCraft has been involved in the American Century Championship (ACC) for a few years now, offering celebrities and players the opportunity to go out on their boats between rounds. This year, celebrities could enjoy their time on the water while also supporting a great cause. The ‘Surf to Save Lives’ campaign was launched in May by MasterCraft to raise funds and awareness for the St. Jude mission.

They had a large display of boats near the 17th tee all week, as well as rides on the lake.

July 5 car crash in South Lake Tahoe claims second victim

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A family heading home after a fun-filled holiday weekend in South Lake Tahoe was involved in the devastating collision on Pioneer Trail that killed not only a 17-year-old local man but also a three-month-old baby.

"In the blink of an eye, our lives have been forever shattered as baby Charlie, previously declared brain dead, passed away on July 11, 2023, at 8:05 p.m.," said the baby's aunt.

Sponsoring their first Monday Meal on June 26, Tahoe Green Dispensary was a welcome addition to our amazing list of sponsors who have helped serve over fifty thousand meals since the inception of the Adopt A Day (AAD) program in 2011. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Local children are invited to participate in the annual Camp Sunrise, a children’s bereavement camp serving children ages 7 to 14, who have experienced the death of a loved one or other significant loss. The overnight grief camp takes place Friday to Sunday, August 11 to 13, at Galilee Camp and Retreat Center in Glenbrook, Nevada.

Tahoe Douglas Fire celebrates retiring Fire Marshal Eric Guevin

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - For years it was Tahoe Douglas Fire Division Chief/Fire Marshal Eric Guevin who inspected the fireworks barges sitting offshore on Lake Tahoe. This year was different though, and it wasn't Guevin checking out the safety of operation as he is newly retired.

His service to the community was recently celebrated at the fire house on Elk Point Road, one that started off with a 911 Emergency Services dispatch announcement over the airwaves announcing Guevin's retirement.
