Memorial for Judith A. Cefalu to be held at Happy Homestead Tuesday

The memorial of Judith A. Cefalu, who passed away on November 20, 2020, is being held on Tuesday, October 24 at 11 a.m. at Happy Homestead Cemetery. The pandemic prevented the ability for a public memorial service of Judith from being conducted in a timely manner after her passing.

The internment of her ashes will take place on what would have been her birthday. The pastor of St. Theresa’s Church will join to provide a short tribute to Judith’s wonderful life.

Judy was well-known in the South Lake Tahoe community and very accomplished in her many activities. Whether family, friend, or stranger she was always available with open arms to any and all in need of assistance.

Judy was a Charter member of the Barton Auxiliary which was instrumental in bringing the first full-fledged hospital to the growing community of South Lake Tahoe. It raised funds that were necessary for the operation of the facility. Judy was instrumental in forming the first Candy Striper group, which consisted of high school girls, that assisted hospital staff in various hospital functions and provided the background for the possibility of a career in medical care.

Judy was very active in the community, a member of the Soroptimist Club of South Lake Tahoe, president of the Barton Hospital Auxiliary, a devoted member of CASA, and successful in helping families restore their family lives. All of this and more while raising a family and being a full-time employee of the family business.

She will be sorely missed and leaves a void in the lives of her family. They are grateful for the final opportunity to bring her home where she will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Barton Hospital Auxiliary.
