South Lake Tahoe woman honored by Daughters of the American Revolution on her new citizenship

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently gathered to honor a South Lake Tahoe woman who recently took the Oath of Citizenship in Sacramento.

Jessica Sosa Torres, a longtime resident of South Lake Tahoe and a graduate of South Tahoe High School, is now officially a citizen of the United States. Members of her family attended her Sacramento swearing-in ceremony and were present at the South Lake Tahoe DAR celebration on March 19, 2019.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution supports the immigrant path to citizenship as part of its patriotic endeavor. The DAR Citizenship Manual was composed in 1919 and was originally available in 19 languages. Over a period of 50 years, more than 12 million copies were distributed to immigrants at no charge. Currently, the manual is published in English and is available on the U.S. Government’s Department of Immigration and Naturalization website.

"Congratulations, Jessica!" said DAR Chapter Regent Sally Holcombe.
