Chautauqua of John Muir by Don Baldwin

Event Date:
August 24, 2016 - 6:30pm

Don Baldwin will portray John Muir, at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, August 24, at 6:30 pm.

Known as "John of the Mountains", Muir was a Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States. His letters, essays, and books telling of his adventures in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada of California, have been read by millions. Muir’s activism helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas.

This series is also made possible with the assistance of Nevada Humanities, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Tickets are $5 for adults, free for 16 and younger. Tickets are available in Gardnerville at Battle Born Wine, in Minden at 88 Cups & More, and can also be purchased at dangberg.eventbrite.com. Unless sold out, tickets will also be available at the gate.

Growing up in the shadow of Yosemite National Park, Don Baldwin’s deep affinity with the Sierra led him to create a dramatic first-person portrayal of the famous naturalist John Muir. He performs for a wide range of audiences including schools and colleges, churches and religious organizations, environmental groups, service clubs and senior residences.

The park is located at 1450 Hwy 88, ¼ mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. This is an outdoor event, and visitors should bring their own seating. Dogs are not permitted at this event. For more information, visit dangberghomeranch.org.

Our final performance this season at the park will be “Mary Pickford” on September 7. The park’s full 2016 event schedule is available at the park’s website.
