Silver State Art Festival

The 2018 Silver State Art Festival, hosted by the Nevada Gourd Society, is a gathering in Carson City of gourd artists, basket makers, wood artists, photographers and painters from all over the Southwest.

The festival is Sept. 15-16, 2018 at Fuji Exhibit Hall, across from Costco. All are welcome to come and meet the artists and enjoy wonderful art.

Organizers are also offering 3 days of classes on how to create art with gourds, how to weave a basket and even how to create a rope bowl. Our experienced instructors will be sharing their knowledge in many different techniques; Carving, dyeing, and woodburning a gourd, weaving and even basic woodturning.

For class descriptions and to register, visit: www.nevadagourdsociety.org/classes. For folks who are not interested in taking a class but want to have a hands-on experience with gourds, there will be a “Make and Take” booth for adults and children of all ages.

As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to educate and share our talents with the community. We also believe in supporting other organizations located in the Carson City area. This year we are hosting a raffle with over 50 donated items from artists and local businesses and all proceeds will benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV). All of the funds raised will be matched by the Joseph Kalt and Judy Gans Family Foundation. No need to be present to win.

While you are “out and about” the weekend of Sept. 15-16, stop by our festival to do a little pre-holiday shopping, experience all of the wonderful art and culture Carson City has to offer and buy a raffle ticket or two to support ADEV. We hope to see you there!

Festival Organized By: The Nevada Gourd Society (a non-profit organization) was established in 2016 and currently has over 100 members. Within the Nevada Gourd Society, the Great Basin Gourd Patch represents Northern Nevada and the Pahrump Valley Gourd Patch represents Southern Nevada.
