UNR's Main Station Field Day 2013

Event Date:
September 14, 2013 - 9:00am

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station, College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR), and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) will be hosting their annual Field Day. The event is free and open to the general public on September 14 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Reno’s Clean Water Way, near the intersection of East McCarran and Mill Street.

Here is your opportunity to tour Wolf Pack Meats, visit a variety of alternative crop projects, learn more about bio-fuels and livestock production, and participate in a short wine tasting class.
In addition to tours, students and faculty will be presenting their research; UNCE will be presenting their Herds to Harvest, Master Gardener, Living with Fire, and Nevada Radon Education programs; and representatives from the High Desert Farming Initiative and Urban Roots will be discussing different techniques to extend the growing season in Northern Nevada.

Plus, don’t forget the kids! Children are welcome to participate in hands-on science, 4-H activities, and hay rides. This year’s annual plant sale will feature desert cacti and succulents. Lunch will be available for purchase from our own Wolf Pack Meats.
