Liberty Utilities asks for public's help in reporting vandalism and theft

After experiencing several incidents of vandalism and theft, Liberty Utilities is asking the public for help by reporting suspicious activity or crimes around electrical facilities and structures in the utility's service area, according to a news release.

The public is asked to call local law enforcement or Liberty Utilities at 1-800-782-2506 to report suspicious activity around any of these electric facilities and structures.

Marijuana sales at South Lake Tahoe schools leads to arrest of couple

South Lake Tahoe police have arrested couple who faces charges of selling marijuana at South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High School.

William Anderson, 30, and his fiancé Makayla Hoehn, 25, were arrested Monday and are accused of furnishing marijuana to South Tahoe High School and South Tahoe Middle School students, said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Brian Williams. Both admitted to the crimes.

Brotherhood motorcycle member arrested for felony weapons, assault crimes, drug paraphernalia

On Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 the SLTPD SWAT team executed high risk search and arrest warrants at 2493 William Avenue, and took 46-year-old Anthony Corbin into custody for several felonies.

Anthony Corbin is a confirmed member of the South Lake Tahoe Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. In mid-March Corbin was identified as the suspect who severely beat a 34-year-old South Lake Tahoe man.

Delayed openings possible after vandals target Lake Tahoe recreation sites

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – Someone’s stealing copper from Forest Service facilities on the South Shore, and the agency’s turning to the public for help in stopping the costly crimes. The thieves have targeted restrooms at Kiva Picnic Area, Fallen Leaf Campground, and Pope and Baldwin beaches, vandalizing the buildings in their attempts to access the copper pipes in the plumbing and sell them for scrap metal. Several of the restrooms had been newly constructed over the past few years.

I am sure glad I live here and not down there where there is such a big stink about a dad who took a DOJ helicopter and dropped the homecoming football to the team from the air. Where else can you go anywhere and have Santa dropped of in the Calstar helicopter at the Meyers Christmas Tree lighting or have the high school homecoming game ball delivered by Calstar?

I would gladly pay for that as I know others would also.

El Dorado County Sheriff's Office offers academy for citizens

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office has announced classes for its 2013 Citizen's Academy. Residents of the county can learn about the law enforcement agency and its many functions, said Sheriff John D’Agostini.

Classes run one night each week, (typically Tuesdays) from 6 to 9 p.m.. The next academy is scheduled to begin March 19 and will end June 25, 2013 The academy classes are held at the Sheriff’s Placerville OES training facility. The Citizen’s Academy is offered on a first come first served basis to El Dorado County residence and is free of charge.
