Amador County man arrested in Reno after Pine Grove woman's body found

For the past two days, investigators from the Amador County Sheriff's Office followed up on multiple tips regarding the suspect's whereabouts. On Friday, January 22, 2021, they developed information that Adams was possibly in the Reno area. This information was provided to the Reno Police Department and at approximately 4:00 p.m., Adams was located inside a Reno area casino and arrested for the murder of Savana Lee Burger.

A second colder system will be on its heels Sunday night into Monday and will provide chances for another round of snow. Additional fast moving storms are possible going into 2021.

The advisory is in place until 4:00 a.m. Monday, and before that time, total snow accumulation of 2 to 6 inches below 6500 feet and 8 to 16 inches above 6500 feet is expected.

Ten inches of new snow fell overnight at Homewood Mountain Resort’s summit on Lake Tahoe’s west shore, and two inches at the base (lake level). With a winter storm warning in effect until 6:00 p.m. tonight, the National Weather Service forecast is calling for another 4-8” of snow throughout the day today, and 1-3” tonight.

South Lake Tahoe home gets struck by lightning
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/16/2020 - 8:56pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Just after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, a strong cell moved over Meyers and South Lake Tahoe bringing warnings of frequent lightning, heavy rain, half dollar sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph.
During the system a bolt of lightning struck a home on Inverness Drive in the Tahoe Keys.
Simultaneously, alarms went off at South Tahoe Middle School and in a condo on Ala Wai Blvd.

Dispute at Lake Tahoe construction site; One transported via Cal Star, other by ambulance
Submitted by paula on Thu, 04/30/2020 - 10:11am5.1.20 UPDATE: In the morning hours of April 30, 2020, a group of construction workers were involved in a physical altercation at their job site at the new Tahoe Beach Club at the end of Kahle Drive. During the physical fight, a knife was produced and one male sustained major knife inflicted injuries to his head/face and he was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno via Cal Star.
Another male suffered minor non-life threatening injuries and he was transported to Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.

For Wednesday: Snow likely before 11:00 a.m., then snow showers after 11:00 a.m. Some thunder is also possible. High near 35. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Proposed plans for SR-28 corridor from Sand Harbor to Spooner Summit released

After the success of the East Shore Trail from Incline Village to Sand Harbor, the plan is to continue the shared-use trail with other improvements to highway safety and infrastructure; summer recreational access; water, air and scenic quality; and increase non-motorized access to the corridor.
The USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has issued a draft decision for the proposed improvements to this area.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with the Lake Wind Advisory up until 7:00 p.m.
Both Sierra-at-Tahoe and Heavenly Mountain Resort are reporting 1" of new snow this morning, so far. Kirkwood reports 3" of new snow.

It was windy overnight, bringing in a quick storm that left a dusting of snow at lake level. As things clear out this morning, the rest of Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high near 39. Southwest winds will continue up to around 10 mph. Tonight, snow is likely, mainly after 4:00 a.m. Low will be around 21. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.
Snow brings a mess to roads around South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Sun, 12/22/2019 - 2:45pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The latest storm hit quickly Sunday morning, bringing snow to South Lake Tahoe area roads and, with those, chain controls, traffic issues and collisions.
Drivers heading west over Echo Summit have been attempting short cuts through Lake Tahoe Blvd., Mandan Street, Sawmill Road and North Upper Truckee, and because of that they are creating a mess with double parking as they put on chains and blocking the roadway.
Actress Anna Faris and family survive carbon monoxide issue at Lake Tahoe home

The group of 13 rented a vacation home in the 100 block of Tahoma Drive in Tahoe City. Two of them felt ill and went to the hospital where it was determined they were suffering from Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning.

As of 11:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Caltrans has removed chain controls from US50 at Echo Summit but there is a small pocket from Fresh Pond to Sly Park that requires them at this time.
Mt. Rose lane closures as NDOT works on highway improvements
Submitted by paula on Sun, 11/10/2019 - 1:11amSingle lane closures will take place on a section of the Mt. Rose Highway summit (State Route 431) Nov. 12-15 as part of continuing Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) roadway improvements.
Between 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Nov. 12 through Nov. 15, single lane closures with traffic flaggers alternating directions of travel will be in place on Mt. Rose Highway just below the Mt. Rose ski area. Motorists should anticipate minor travel delays.
Roadway signage is being enhanced to further focus driver attention on navigating the mountainous roadway turns.
Open Houses on proposed snowmobile/winter recreation access around Lake Tahoe

That document outlined changes to snowmobile access in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Prescribed burn on North Shore of Lake Tahoe

This month, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and California State Parks are working on rescribed fire operations as they will continue as needed over the next several weeks.
Smoke can be seen on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe Monday, and it is coming from operations near Tyner Way and Toni Courts and above Jennifer Drive in creek drainage areas.

The new location is I.V. Coffee Lab, 907 Tahoe Boulevard in Incline Village. Chief Deputy Greg Herrera and Patrol Captain Don Gil will be available to answer questions, address concerns, or just casual conversation from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
Facebook video leads to arrest of two juveniles in Douglas County on battery charges
Submitted by paula on Sat, 09/07/2019 - 11:54pmDOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Video footage found on Facebook of a fight at a Gardnerville Ranchos home has led to the arrest two juveniles on charges of battery, affray (an instance of fighting in a public place that disturbs the peace), and destruction of property.
On September 3, 2019, at 3:15 p.m., deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) were dispatched to the area of Wagon Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos area of Douglas County for a fight in progress. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered one of the involved subjects had what they called "obvious injuries."

Submitted by paula on Tue, 08/27/2019 - 4:09pmCARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be working on State Route 431, the Mt. Rose Highway, from August 28 to mid-October to improve roadside guardrail and resurface sections of the roadway.
The daytime work will require them to have intermittent lane closures from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on small sections of the highway in Incline Village and the northern side of Mt. Rose Summit. Though they expect drivers to have short delays, motorists should anticipate maximum travel delays of up to 30 minutes.

Then join the Tahoe Community Choir as they begin their 49th year in South Lake Tahoe. They start its fall season under new leadership on Tuesday, September 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.
Rehearsals will be every Tuesday evening until their holiday performances the first weekend in December.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Motorists can expect intermittent short delays on State Route 89 at Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma from 6:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 24 and from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, August 25 due to the Lake Tahoe Triathlon.
Douglas County fire near Topaz Ranch Estates prompts evacuations

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - Voluntary evacuations have been put into place for homes east of Canyon Drive in the Topaz Ranch Estates area. A fire, now known as the Canyon Fire, started just before 2:00 p.m. Wednesday and is now estimated to be at 800 acres in size according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.

State Routes 28/89 (El Dorado and Placer County): Work is now complete on a $4.8 million project to remove dead and dying trees from State Routes 28 and 89 in various locations of El Dorado and Placer counties. Completion is expected this fall.
Multi-agency response to the water and gas leak on Seneca Drive
Submitted by paula on Thu, 08/08/2019 - 3:28pmA geyser of water and natural gas on Senaca Drive in Meyers on August 6 brought out a full response from South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD), Southwest Gas (SWG), Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO).
STPUD responded to the call of a water leak and upon arrival found water gushing from a broken water main. They also smelled gas so called SWG and 911. LVFPD and EDSO secured the area and helped evacuate residents and divert water to minimize property damage.

Car left running, empty and on its side after driver crashes into South Lake Tahoe home
Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/15/2019 - 8:16pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Emergency personnel were called out to a home on Springwood Drive in South Lake Tahoe early Monday morning after a vehicle crashed into it, severing the gas meter.
Upon arrival just before 3:00 a.m. July 15, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) found a car still running and on its side after it hit the unoccupied home. The driver was nowhere to be found.
One home a total loss, another suffers major damage after fire near South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Fri, 07/05/2019 - 11:55amMEYERS, Calif. - One house is a total loss and another suffered major damage after a 4th of July fire on Tehama Drive in Meyers.
At 9:30 p.m., a call went into Lake Valley Fire Protection District (LVFPD) of a house fire. At first, the caller thought the fire to be on Seneca Drive but it turned out to be at 703 Tehama Drive.
LVFPD Battalion Chief Brad Zlendick said the fire spread to a second home next door, causing major damage to the attic and sides.
Volunteers needed to assist the public in the Lake Tahoe backcountry
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/26/2019 - 10:47pmThe USFS Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) is forming a new volunteer team to provide a “uniform presence” in Lake Tahoe areas where they do not have staff available to be in the field or on the many trails.
A formation meeting for is being held for all potential volunteers on Friday, June 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at LTBMU Supervisor Office located at 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe.
