The El Dorado County Family Caregiver program is offering a six-week series of classes designed to provide instruction and support to caregivers who are or are planning to care for a family member or friend age 60 or older.

It started on April 15 but participants can still join and attend any or all of the remaining sessions. This series is offered twice a year.

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP) is presenting a free Aging & Caregiver educational series in South Lake Tahoe. The six-week educational series will be held on Mondays beginning April 15, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, 4130 Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe.

The series will provide instruction and support for people who care for, or plan to care for, a family member or friend aged 60 years or older. Series topics include:

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) recently made connections with a senior citizen through their new Caring Neighbors Program. They found the senior had been scammed out of over $34,000 over the past 20 months.

In the program, a deputy and a volunteer visit seniors to obtain needed information such as consent, next of kin and medication information. The information is beneficial in case of a future emergency involving the senior citizen.

Since the recent passage of many soft on crime laws like Propositions 47 and 57,
California has seen a troubling trend of an increase in violent crimes. This disturbing surge in violent crimes has seen a dramatic increase in domestic violence homicides across the Sacramento Region.

A whistleblower will earn about $430,000 after leading investigators to orthopedic clinics in Reno, Chico and Redlands for their allegedly using discounted and reimported osteoarthritis medications, but billing the government for full value.
