The 2012 Business Expo, brought to you by TahoeChamber and Getaway Reno-Tahoe, is right around the corner! After a winter of dry, balmy conditions, the splashy white product of last weekend's storm was a welcome sight for skiers and snowboarders. But the hazards of deep snow became tragically apparen...

After a week straight of snowy days, the storm has moved out and left 77 inches of white gold in its tracks at Sierra-at-Tahoe. With 19 inches falling in the past 24 hours, powder face shots can be had by all. Bundle up, grab your friends, review pow safety tips, and enjoy the recent snowfall under bluebird skies tomorrow and all through the week.
Highway 50 is open and clear, but drive slowly and stay safe on your way up. Currently, Sierra has 7 lifts and tows spinning giving you access to some of South Shore's best beginner to advance terrain. Conditions like these were worth the wait.

Come to the American Legion Post #795 for the annual St. Paddy's Day Dinner on this Saturday, March 17, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Cost is $8 for dinner of corned beef cabbage with all the trimmings. MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa in Stateline, Nev., Lake Tahoe announced today that Jef Bauer, General Manager, resigned effective immediately.
Bauer served as general manager since October 2010, according to a news release. A reason for his departure was not given.

Heavenly Mountain Resort at South Shore Lake Tahoe is officially the world’s most popular ski and snowboard resort on Facebook.

The Tahoe Queen has brought back its popular Ski Shuttle service which runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April. The shuttle and scenic cruise will take guests from Ski Run Marina to Northstar, serving a buffet-style breakfast as passengers enjoy the views of the lake.

I was busy some other place when "Star Wars, The Phantom Menace" opened in 1999. Lucky me. Not so lucky now when I went to see the reworked original decked out in 3D. The film is now playing at the Horizon Stadium Cinema at Stateline, Lake Tahoe. And for all those Star Wars fans, and they know who they are, you won't want to miss it; though you can see the release without 3D and you won't be missing much.

Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe is celebrating 2012’s extra day on February 29th by offering a $29 all day lift ticket.

“There are obviously lots of things people can do with an extra day on their hands” says Brad Wilson, general manager of Diamond Peak. “Skiing and snowboarding seems a more fun choice than some of the alternatives like washing the car, doing laundry or cleaning out the garage.”

Thanks to the power of the West Coast’s largest snowmaking system, Heavenly Mountain Resort was able to open East Bowl, the double-black diamond trail that leads to the resort’s California Lodge.
“East Bowl and The Face are really the welcome mat to our resort, as well as giving us some of the most challenging terrain in the region,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager.
