Over 500 search and rescue volunteers and professionals heading to South Lake Tahoe

El Dorado County Search and Rescue is hosting SAREX 2018 (Search and Rescue Exercise) over the September 7-9 weekend at locations around South Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe Community College is the base for the event which will bring in over 500 search and rescue volunteers and professionals from around California.

The weekend long exercise will include air, water, and off highway vehicle operations. The public can expect to see increased activity of emergency vehicles, including helicopters and the organizers do not want the public to be concerned.

Off-Highway vehicle use is topic of Forest Service open house

The public has an opportunity to meet Forest Service Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) engineering, trails and recreation staff during an open house on April 2.

This is a great time to ask questions regarding OHV used on designated routes within the Lake Tahoe Basin, the LTBMU Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) and the California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreational (OHMVR) Grant application.

Full Time Law Enforcement Hits the Rubicon Trail

El Dorado County Sheriff D’Agostini has created a new position and assigned a full time deputy sheriff to patrol the Rubicon Trail, 40 hours every week, during the OHV season. In the past most of the staffing for the Rubicon Trail was on overtime, and was limited by grant funds.
