Woman critically hurt in South Lake Tahoe crosswalk accident

South Lake Tahoe Police have provided more details into Saturday's pedestrian accident on Highway 50 near Heavenly Village that critically injured a 71-year-old Ohio woman on Saturday night.

Lake Tahoe Prosperity Center Names Mone´ Haen as New CEO

The Tahoe Prosperity Center has announced the appointment of Mone´K. Haen to the new position of CEO. The Tahoe Prosperity Center was formed in response to the Lake Tahoe Basin Prosperity Plan developed in 2010 and is the result of an unprecedented coalition of government, private, and philanthropic stakeholders in the Tahoe Basin. The naming of a CEO is a major step in the TPC's mission to promote regional sustainability through economic vitality, environmental stewardship and healthy communities in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin.

South Lake Tahoe appoints Nancy Kerry as permanent City Manager

At the conclusion of Tuesday’s South Lake Tahoe City Council closed session, the council unanimously voted and offered the full time permanent City Manager position to Nancy Kerry. The terms of the two-and-a-half year contract are still being negotiated.

Announcing her appointment, City Manager Tony O’Rourke said Ms. Hussong-Johnson, “has demonstrated outstanding capability to build public improvements on time and within budget and will lead the City’s Strategic Priority to Improve the Built Environment. Sarah brings a solution-oriented collaborative approach to resolving the challenges of constructing public improvements and will be an excellent leader for the years ahead.”

Settlement reached in Tahoe pier dispute

UPDATED 5:19PM: Environmental regulators and a Lake Tahoe property owner who has hosted events for the League to Save Lake Tahoe have settled a dispute over environmental rule violations that stretch back to 2008.
Tamara Fritz and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency agreed to terms this week resolving violations between April 2008 and March 2011. Go here for more.

Nonprofit Groups Raise Funds With California Hunting Tags

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) invites nonprofit organizations to help wildlife by auctioning big game hunting license tags for the 2012-13 season. These tags will allow the highest bidder to hunt bighorn sheep, deer, elk and pronghorn antelope in California. There are only 13 of these special fund-raising tags reserved for 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups to sell and they’re sure to draw many participants to any fund-raising event.

Wine festival at Squaw Valley
