Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows will be hosting a seasonal job interview fair Saturday, November 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The job fair will take place at the Olympic House at Squaw Valley and will include interviews for a wide range of positions including ski/snowboard school instructors, lift operations, grooming, terrain parks, culinary services, rental services, retail, security, product sales and services, and parking. Opportunities include full-time as well as part time positions. Skiing or snowboarding abilities are not required for all available positions.

Champion Stand Up Paddleboarder Goes Wild for Lake Tahoe License Plates

“Over 96 percent of fees help support projects like the Lake Tahoe Water Trail and access to beaches like this,” says Wild, standing on the beach at Watermans Landing. “I train on the lake every day. Tahoe is a treasure, and I have a Tahoe plate to show my love for this magical place.”

Genoa Trail System Grand Opening

The Gateway Project, which will bring about 275 jobs now through April 2013, features an upgrade to the baggage claim area, creating a first floor single security checkpoint, plus new retail and places to eat.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort to open Friday

Kirkwood says it will use midweek operations for on mountain preparation, snow making and readying more terrain. The resort hopes to open for full seven-day-a-week winter operations beginning Friday, Dec. 9. The date may change, however, with significant snowfall.

Lakeview Commons Project Update Video

Approaching from the western side is the boat ramp, and a newly constructed Boathouse. The downstairs will feature storage lockers for paddle boards and kayaks, restrooms, and a boat rental area. As the Lakeview Commons project in the middle of town plugs along, a building is taking shape near the El Dorado Beach boat ramp.
The two-story structure is intended, like most of the project, to enhance beachgoers’ experience at El Dorado Beach, as well as consolidate a number of different uses into one safe and secure location.

To a crowd of about 200, the South Lake Tahoe City Council met to hear the 2011-12 Budget Proposal from its city manager and finance director on Thursday. There was an obvious tension between the council and members of the public who attended the meeting, though the general sentiment of the council and city manager is that the deficit issues are not their fault, and that employee sacrifice is what is required to balance the budget.
