AAA: Gas prices soar 15 cents in Northern California and Nevada

In Northern California the average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.83; the average price in Nevada for is $3.51.

Submitted by Editor on Wed, 01/04/2012 - 1:13pmUPDATE: From the Douglas County Sheriff's Office: Fleeing felon Victor Mora Jr. was captured Wednesday night at the Carson City Inn Motel in Carson City. Mora Jr. was captured by Douglas County Investigator Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski after receiving an anonymous tip regarding his whereabouts.
Mora Jr. is currently in custody at the DCSO Minden Jail, booked on an arrest warrant for lewdness with a minor.
Bail is set at $50,000.
Chrzanowski expresses her appreciation for assistance received from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in assisting in the arrest.

Walnut Creek man Killed on Highway 50 near Stateline on New Years Day Identified
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 2:37pmThe 21-year-old Walnut Creek, Calif. man who was struck and killed by a California Highway Patrol vehicle and a shuttle bus early Sunday morning on Highway 50 near Stateline at Lake Tahoe has been identified as Alex M. Moore, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The accident happened between Lake Village and Elks Point Road and was reported around 12:44 a.m. Sunday morning. Here is the latest news release from NHP Trooper Chuck Allen:

The accident happened between Lake Village and Elks Point Road and was reported at 12:44 a.m. Sunday morning, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. South Tahoe High School will celebrate the unveiling of its renovated Viking Bowl facility tonight by hosting Churchill County in a Northern 3A football contest.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on a field that has been converted from natural to synthetic turf and now has permanent lighting.
South Tahoe kicked off its season last Friday with a 35-12 victory at Portola, Calif.
Tonight will be the league opener for both the Vikings and Churchill County Greenwave (Fallon).
