The revocations run the gamut, from the Edgewood Tahoe Mens Club to the Lovelock Alfalfa Seed Growers. Most of the revocations occurred in 2010 but were just posted by the agency last year.
California high court says state can eliminate redevelopment

Jerry Brown and lawmakers, the California Supreme Court ruled today the state can eliminate local agencies that subsidize construction in blighted areas. The decision strengthens the state's ability to take funds from redevelopment agencies, such as the one at South Lake Tahoe, for the current budget. It also provides leverage for state leaders to use more than $1 billion annually in redevelopment property tax dollars to balance future budgets.
Kyburz post office threatened with closure, cuts to service

More than five years after the parents of a slain South Lake Tahoe teenager asked local authorities for help in solving the 1980 murder of their son, the case remains active and some remain hopeful the case could be solved.

To a crowd of about 200, the South Lake Tahoe City Council met to hear the 2011-12 Budget Proposal from its city manager and finance director on Thursday. There was an obvious tension between the council and members of the public who attended the meeting, though the general sentiment of the council and city manager is that the deficit issues are not their fault, and that employee sacrifice is what is required to balance the budget.
