3 Cars Stolen in 16 Hours in South Lake Tahoe; 3 Suspects Arrested

Three Placerville 18 year olds have been arrested in connection with three auto thefts that took place in South Lake Tahoe between 7 p.m. March 31 and 11 a.m. April 1. The trio is also suspected in stealing contents from other cars as well.

Brian Barnes, Elija Kidwell and Sean Murphy were arrested and book into El Dorado County Jail on felony charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy for at least one of the auto thefts and to some of the property thefts.

El Dorado County Sheriffs Trying to Reunite Recovered Property With Owners

Throughout recent months El Dorado County Sheriff's Office detectives have been investigating an increasingly high volume of residential burglaries. As previously released, four suspects were arrested related to burglaries. One of those suspects was Gary Joseph Masse who was paroled in July 2013 after serving prison time for a previous burglary conviction.

Three Arrested For String of West Slope Burglaries

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department retrieved hundreds of stolen items from a home in Georgetown after investigating a series of burglaries in the towns of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville and Georgetown. They arrested three residents of a home after conducting a search of a home following discovery of a stolen car.

Jeri Acuna, a 37 year old woman was arrested for possession of stolen property and a stolen vehicle, Ryann Jana Leidel, a 32 year old female was arrested for two outstanding felony warrants. Parolee Tommie Richard Stover was arrested on two other felony warrants.

Caution Urged: South Lake Tahoe Burglaries and Car Thefts on Rise

South Lake Tahoe Police report that home and car burglaries are on the rise in the city. Unattended cars being warmed up on cold mornings are also tempting car thieves so caution is urged at home and with vehicles.

Lt. Brian Willians of the SLTPD is advising residents that a warming up car left alone is a tempting invitation to a thief. Keep cars locked when parked and don't leave home windows and doors unlocked and open.

During the week of October 23 to 30 there was 1 auto theft and 6 burglaries in the city limits. Since September 19 the SLTPD has responded to 15 auto theft calls.

South Lake Tahoe police arrest man, recover stolen property from vacation home burglaries

South Lake Tahoe police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with several burglaries of vacation homes in town in which a large amount of stolen property was recovered.

Eric Beaman, 26, of South Lake Tahoe, faces charges of being in possession of stolen property, said South Lake Tahoe Police Department Lt. Brian Williams. A search warrant of a home on Armstrong Avenue led to the finding and arrest.

Liberty Utilities asks for public's help in reporting vandalism and theft

After experiencing several incidents of vandalism and theft, Liberty Utilities is asking the public for help by reporting suspicious activity or crimes around electrical facilities and structures in the utility's service area, according to a news release.

The public is asked to call local law enforcement or Liberty Utilities at 1-800-782-2506 to report suspicious activity around any of these electric facilities and structures.

South Lake Tahoe police reports recent surge in auto thefts, attempted thefts

During the nine days of July, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department has investigated several thefts and attempted thefts of vehicles in the City. The targeted victim vehicles appear to be vans in particular.

Delayed openings possible after vandals target Lake Tahoe recreation sites

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – Someone’s stealing copper from Forest Service facilities on the South Shore, and the agency’s turning to the public for help in stopping the costly crimes. The thieves have targeted restrooms at Kiva Picnic Area, Fallen Leaf Campground, and Pope and Baldwin beaches, vandalizing the buildings in their attempts to access the copper pipes in the plumbing and sell them for scrap metal. Several of the restrooms had been newly constructed over the past few years.

Credit card skimming and identity theft reported in South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe Police are investigating a fraud report involving stolen credit card information. The victim used a credit card to purchase fuel at the Safeway gas station at the corner of US Highway 50 and Takela Avenue, South Lake Tahoe Police report.

Former Thunder Valley employee sentenced for embezzlement

U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. sentenced Erika Michele Carlton, 38, of Roseville, to 18 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for theft from an Indian tribal government, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. Judge England also ordered her to pay $236,050 in restitution.

This case was the product of an investigation by the United States Secret Service and the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Reardon prosecuted the case.

Authorities prepare for Lake Tahoe New Year's Eve party at Stateline

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is readying itself for the upcoming New Years Eve celebration at Lake Tahoe beginning Monday, Dec. 31. Each year upwards of 60,000 celebrants ring in the New Year in the casino core area of Stateline, Nev.

Due to the ordinarily high volume of celebrants within the Stateline casino core area during the event, U.S. Highway 50 may be closed to vehicle traffic in the evening if necessary for public safety. If that should occur, vehicle traffic will be diverted around the Stateline casino core area using upper and lower Lake Parkway Drive.

Late Sunday night, September 16, 2012, an unidentified suspect(s) stole approximately twenty re-election campaign signs for City Council Member Bruce Grego. These signs were located at various points along Lake Tahoe Boulevard through the city limits. Most of the signs had been secured by wire rods pushed into the ground to support the signs, but at least one of the signs was pounded into the ground with wooden stakes.

Douglas County authorities seek the public's help in locating several suspects involved in an attempt to cash a stolen check on Saturday at a drive-thru window at Bank of America on Topsy Lane in north Douglas County near Carson City.

Reward offered after dog found dead, home burglarized

A Carson Valley family away for New Year's Eve came back home to find one of their four dogs dead and their home broken into but nothing missing. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office wants anyone who knows about the crime to report it. A reward of $250 is being offered for information.
