Tahoe Douglas Rotary donates $20,000 to local nonprofits amidst COVID-19 emergency

STATELINE, Nev. - Due to the catastrophic impact of COVID-19, the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Douglas announced its immediate initial commitment and disbursement of $20,000 in cash grants to four South Lake Tahoe Community proactive support agencies - Tahoe Magic, Christmas Cheer, Giving Angels and Bread & Broth.
The club has been serving the South Shore community since 1965 and just completed an online auction in lieu of their normal annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration.
Dance of Hope connecting Ugandans with South Lake Tahoe community

Dance of Hope, a cultural music and dance-touring program from Uganda, has been in South Shore schools all week, connecting youth to the sounds of the world with passionate rhythms, sensational sounds, and exhilarating and colorful choreography.
They also stopped by Marcia Sarosik's dance studio in South Lake Tahoe to work with middle school students who will be accompanying them on the MontBleu stage Friday night during Tahoe Art's Project Dance of Hope performance.

Health 2 Humanity Corp.(H2H), a hygiene products company started by 2013 South Tahoe High grad, and current Chapman University student John Cefalu, is taking another step forward in helping people around the world with a newly launched crowdfunding campaign.
H2H plans to use funds raised in the campaign to further expand globally their hygiene solutions in developing countries with their sustainable product and #NoMoreDirtyHands campaign.

Many of us have contributed to local school sports teams by buying candy bars, raffle tickets or attending fundraiser dinners, but how many of us have bought soap for ourselves, provided for a needy child in Africa at the same time we're also supporting the teams?

Find out about the Batwa Pygmies from Uganda at the next meeting of the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra on Thursday, July 22 at 7:30 a.m.
Dr. Scott Kellerman is in South Lake Tahoe to share information about the work he, and the Kellerman Foundation, have been doing in Uganda. Kellerman and his wife Carol have been working to empower the Batwa pygmies to break the cycle of poverty and poor health since 2001.
