The Heavenly Wine Walk in South Lake Tahoe Thursday sold out and ended up raising over $4,000 for victims and first responders of the recent Santa Rosa fires.

Dreu Murin Productions and Heavenly Village produced the wine walk which will become a quarterly event.

"Thank you to Liz at Pacific Crest Galley and Mike Owen and all the other Carson Road Wineries," said producer Dreu Murin. "It was a great night!"

New wineries and a new charity will be focused next time.

The Heavenly Village will have a Wine Walk on Thursday, November 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sample wines crafted and shared by the Carson Road Wineries (El Dorado County), food specials and chances to win great prizes at every location.

The cost is a $20 donation and all proceeds go directly to Santa Rosa area families and first responders who were affected by the recent wildfires.

Parking every night after 5:00 p.m. in the Heavenly Village parking garage is just $5 for the evening. The tent for the event is by the fountain and stop by for your tickets there.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in El Dorado County is among the first of the NAMI Affiliates in the nation to offer "NAMI Family & Friends," a new NAMI four-hour seminar.

"We are delighted to be able to provide an educational experience for those that care deeply about a family member or friend in the community," said Jeanne Nelson, NAMI El Dorado County President. "In just four hours the participants may walk away with some tools and techniques that could directly make a positive difference in the recovery process."

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The long awaited 11 foot tall bronze sculpture "Spirit of Competition" perched on top of a 4.5 ton boulder was unveiled during a ceremony at Champions Plaza Friday.

Sculptor Gareth Curtiss transported his creation from his studio in Fortine, Montana just two days ago in the back of his van, early Thursday morning the bronze sculpture was picked up with a crane and placed on top of the boulder, bolted in and wrapped up for the ceremony.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Also new this year is the one-night-only curated art show, Capital Collage, on Friday night featuring over 20 diverse artists and organizations.

Two suspects are being sought by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) for three attempted robberies in Cameron Park and Placerville October 9-10.

The first attempt occurred on October 9 at the CVS store on Palmer Drive in Cameron Park. At about 7:00 p.m., two male suspects entered the store and attempted to rob the pharmacy. They jumped the pharmacy counter and demanded narcotics. When they were not given the medication, the two suspects fled the store.

On Tuesday, a majority of city council agreed on a revised VHR (Vacation Home Rental) ordinance. In two weeks we will vote on the first reading of the ordinance and if a majority supports it, on November 7th would be the final vote to adopt the revised regulations and rules. The ordinance would then go into effect 30 days later.

A 28-year-old woman is dead and her fiance has been hospitalized after a shooting in Shingle Springs Wednesday evening.

On October 4, 2017 at approximately 5:47 p.m., deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) responded to multiple reports of a shooting near the intersection of Mother Lode Drive and Sunset Lane.

They discovered two people shot at the scene. One of them, Bay Area resident Jessica Lyn Ball, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male, who was later determined to be her fiance, suffered a single gunshot would and was transported to a local hospital.

The Animal Coalition of Tahoe (ACT) and Tahoe Beach Retreat have teamed up for the annual Mutt Strut on October 1 from noon to 2:00 p.m.

Its always a lot of fun for dogs and their owners to take part in one of South Lake Tahoe's favorite events. Walk with your dog along the route, enjoy friends, make new ones and help support the ACT Spay and Neuter Program. There will be raffles, music, games and fun for two and four legged friends.

The Strut will begin at Lakeview Commons at noon on October 1 and will end at Tahoe Beach Retreat (Timber Cove Beach).

Lake Tahoe is known around the world for its crystal-clear water. For several decades, Tahoe’s clarity, which measured more than 100 feet in 1968, was declining each year because of stormwater pollution from poorly planned development and the lingering effects of historical activities such as cattle grazing and logging.

No community is immune to loosing one of their own to suicide. A small community faces many of the same risks as do urban centers, and, according to a recent study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicides in rural areas are on the rise.

In just over three years there have been 23 suicides in the Lake Tahoe portions of El Dorado County:

May 1, 2015 - May 31, 2016 - 4 suicides

The pedestrian hybrid beacon installed at the Camp Richardson crosswalk will remain active this weekend and until further notice.

A 41-year-old man is in custody after allegedly riding a motorized bicycle while intoxicated and crashing into two pedestrians who were in a crosswalk in South Lake Tahoe on August 27, 2017.

Patrick Bryan Baker was riding on Lake Tahoe Boulevard when, at approximately 7:25 p.m., he ran into two pedestrians who were in the crosswalk at Rufus Allen Boulevard according to South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. David Stevenson.

The unidentified male and female had just begun to cross on a "walk" signal when they were hit. Both victims were injured.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For six years Live at Lakeview has been the place to be on Thursday nights in South Lake Tahoe, and this week marks their 60th free concert.

On August 17, the signature concert series will have Sol Peligro and Boca do Rio on the beach at Lakeview Commons starting at 4:30 p.m.

The popular series is presented by Toyota USA, the City of South Lake Tahoe and On Course Events and goes until the end of August.

South Lake Tahoe, CA – Recovering from a major joint surgery doesn’t usually inspire the idea of snowshoeing by moonlight, but that’s exactly what Carol Bennis, age 75, was asked to do during her recovery last February.

Carol had never been on snowshoes before, or hiked at night, but when she heard her surgeon and other patients at a similar stage of recovery would be there, she decided to try it out.

The city received some good news this week. We were successfully awarded $2.9 million in federal funds to complete all of the funding for the Sierra Blvd. Streetscape project-we are now 100% funded through construction. Thousands of people turned out Saturday morning to celebrate the near-completion of the much-anticipated Carson City Interstate 580 freeway bypass riding their bicycles, walking, jogging or skating on top of the pavement that will soon carry tens of thousands of vehicles upon it when open next month.

The I-580 run, walk and ride event began about 9 a.m. Saturday and continued until noon.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Cold Case Task Force of the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office is seeking the public's assistance in solving the unsolved murder of South Lake Tahoe resident Manpreet Singh. Singh was the lone attendant on the night shift at U.S. Gas on August 6, 2013 when a gunman entered the store, shot and killed Singh.

A customer walked into the store that evening at 10:50 p.m. and called 911 to tell them Singh had been shot. Video from that night shows the gunman walk from Palmira Avenue and enter the store at 10:40 p.m.

What started out twelve years ago as five friends in Lake Tahoe for a bachelor's party and a day of fun at American Century Championships (ACC) has morphed into an iconic event that has taken on a life of its own at Edgewood Tahoe's 7th hole.

“It's like Christmas and New Years on one day,“ explained one of the original five, John Parillo in describing the atmosphere at the hole on Thursdays of the tournament (the Celebrity Pro-Am day).

The August, 2002 parking agreement between the South Tahoe Joint Powers Parking Authority (STJPPA) and Tahoe Crescent Partnership(TCP) was amended Tuesday during the South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting.

Back in the original agreement, it stated STJPPA was responsible for enforcement of the 474-space parking lot in front of Raley's (the Village Center) at Stateline because of the issues Heavenly Village caused in the center's lot.

"The channel looks good and recovery is holding up," said Theresa Cody, Restoration Hydrologist with the U.S. Forest Service. "Water is on the flood plains as its supposed to."

Cody was talking about the $7 million project on part of the Upper Truckee River known as Reach 5. The three-year long restoration project was to improve the river channel stability and aquatic habitat along 1.2 miles of the river adjacent to the Lake Tahoe Airport.
